Fluid Replacement and Medicine

Replacing volume

After ensuring an adequate airway, oxygenation, and ventilation, the focus for resuscitation of the severely injured patient switches to stopping hemorrhage and restoring the circulation. Appropriate and effective fluid replacement will reverse hemorrhagic shock and restore perfusion to vital organs.

Saline plasma and blood All three restore the volume of liquid in the blood stream. as a result blood pressure is raised for all of them.

Use the appropriate amount depending on the situation (heavy loss of blood, blood pressure too low) (250, 500 or 1 000 mL)

Meds can be administered for numerous reasons.

Autoinjector Effect
Morphine Decreases the blood viscosity, suppress pain
Epinephrine Raises the heart rate of the patient
Adenosine Lowers the heart rate
Atropine Lowers the heart rate of the patient

Note: It is possible to administer too great a dose and potentially kill the patient.Make sure dosage amounts and time administered are passed on to prevent overdosing the patient.
